Financial Aid FAQs

How can I use a recent year's taxes for FAFSA®?

FAFSA® requires that you use tax information from two years ago. For example, the 2025–26 FAFSA® asks for your 2023 tax information. You cannot use more recent tax information on the FAFSA® form itself.

If the required tax information does not reflect your current financial situation, you may be able to complete a Special Circumstance Petition to provide your most recent tax information. Complete your FAFSA® using the year requested, then visit the Financial Aid Office to discuss your circumstances and possible options.

Contact the Financial Aid Office by calling (208) 496-1411, emailing financialaid@byui.edu, or visiting them in person in Kimball 196.
