Financial Aid FAQs

Can I get a Private bank loan if I have past-due debt?

You may be eligible for a bank loan if you were charged tuition for at least 6 credits and still owe BYU-Idaho for the semester for which you are requesting the loan.

Each lender has specific requirements, including:

  • Whether you must meet minimum Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), and
  • Whether loans are allowed for a prior semester.

Some lenders permit loans for up to 12 months in the past, while others only allow loans for the most recent semester.

It is the student’s responsibility to ensure they meet the lender’s minimum eligibility requirements.
