Requesting Tax Returns
You can request Tax Return documents directly from the IRS for free to provide it to
BYU-Idaho’s Financial Aid Office. There are a few ways you can do this: online, by mail, or by form.
Online:
- Go to the Get Transcript Online page on the IRS website.
- Follow the instructions to view, print, or download your transcript.
- Verify your identity by providing your Social Security Number (SSN), filing status, and mailing address.
By Mail:
- Go to the Get Transcript by Mail page on the IRS website, or call 1-800-908-9946.
- Choose the “Tax Return Transcript” option and choose the tax year you need.
- The IRS will mail the transcript to the address it has on file for you. Allow 5-10 days for delivery.
By Form:
- Download and complete IRS Form 45076-T, Request for Transcript of Tax Return.
- Fax or mail the completed form to the IRS address listed on the form. The address varies based on your location.
Submitting Your Tax Documents to BYU-Idaho
Once you have your Tax Return Transcript, contact BYU-Idaho’s Financial Aid Office to submit it either in person or online. You can contact them by phone: (208) 496-1411 or email: financialaid@byui.edu.
