Do I have to pay my Pell grant back?
Pell Grant is free aid, meaning you do not have to pay it back like a loan. It is given to you to help pay for school, but you must meet certain requirements, like participating in classes and maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress standards, to keep it. See our Staying Eligible section to see what you need to do to keep your Pell Grant this semester and maintain eligibility for future semesters.
It depends. For the most part, no. But if you drop classes, quit school, or don’t go to class, you might have to pay back your Pell Grant.
If you do need to repay any of the Pell Grant, BYU-Idaho will notify you. For more information on grant repayment, visit studentaid.gov.
