Below is a list of financial aid topics to assist BYU-Pathway Worldwide students with financial aid questions and concerns. Please be aware that PathwayConnect students are not eligible for any type of federal aid until they transfer to a matriculating (degree-seeking) program.

Federal Financial Aid

Federal financial aid includes Pell Grant, Direct Student Loans and PLUS loans. The federal government gives these funds to enrolled students who meet their basic eligibility criteria. Federal financial aid is awarded after completion of the FAFSA and any other required verification documents found on the financial aid portal.

Private Aid

Additional aid opportunities for qualified students include Veteran Benefits, Burau of Indian Affairs, Idaho State Aid, non-BYU-Idaho scholarships, Alternative/Private Loans, and Tuition Waivers. Private aid options each have their own applications and requirements.

Verification

Some students are selected to provide additional documentation verifying the accuracy of the information provided on their FAFSA. This process is referred to as Verification. If verification documents are required they will appear on the financial aid portal under Required Documents.

Accepting Aid

Students wishing to accept their federal student loans may do so directly through the financial aid portal.

Dates/Deadlines

Federal and University deadlines are in place to ensure students are served in a timely manner. Students who do not meet the priority deadlines may experience delays in financial aid disbursements at the beginning of the semester.

Program Applicability

Students will only receive federal financial aid for courses required for their declared Program. These courses are referred to as program applicable. Use the Program Applicability Tool (PAT) to determine what courses are eligible.

Add/Drop

Considering adding or dropping classes? Be aware that financial aid may be affected. See the Add/Drop Policy or contact Financial Aid for more information.

Deferments

Considering deferring enrollment for any reason? Deferring can affect financial aid, including past semester student loans, and should be addressed before deferments are approved. Contact Financial Aid for more information.

Recently Married

Recently married students could be eligible for additional aid if they meet certain criteria. For additional questions or concerns contact Financial Aid.

Petitions

BYU-Idaho allows students the option to petition certain circumstances regarding their federal aid eligibility. Students who have unusual living or financial circumstances should contact Financial Aid for more information on what options they have.
