Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Application
The FAFSA form applies to one academic year at a time. This means you need to complete the FAFSA each academic year. After you’ve submitted a FAFSA once, it is easy to renew your FAFSA each additional year on studentaid.gov. Students should make sure to complete the correct FAFSA for the school year they wish to receive financial aid.

* June 30th is the federal application deadline determined by the Department of Education
The FAFSA must be submitted and received by BYU-Idaho prior to the student’s last day of attendance for the school year. For example, if the student is a Fall/Winter and does not attend Spring, the FAFSA must be received by the last day of Winter semester. It can take 3-5 business days for BYU-Idaho to receive a submitted FAFSA.
Policy requires that any required documents be submitted no later than 75 days after the student’s last day of attendance, or the September 1 after the award year ends, whichever is earlier. Failure to submit documents by this deadline will disqualify the student from receiving federal financial aid for that school year and may require repayment of funds already received. Required documents are found on the financial aid student portal.
The upcoming school year’s BYU-Idaho Scholarship Application opens with the corresponding FAFSA application opening.
To be evaluated for the BYU-Idaho Scholarship, students must complete the BYU-Idaho Scholarship Application and corresponding FAFSA by March 1st. International and DACA students are not required to submit the FAFSA.
Recently Returned Missionaries must complete the required applications before the full-semester Financial Aid Determination Date (FADD) of their first semester back in order to be evaluated.
Students who are admitted to BYU-Idaho after the March 1 deadline can complete the BYU-Idaho Scholarship application and corresponding FAFSA for financial need only. Late admits will NOT be given academic consideration. Awards are based on fund availability.
Attention Winter & Spring semester applicants:
Only Fall semester applicants and recently returned missionaries are eligible for academic merit consideration; you may still submit the BYU-Idaho Scholarship Application as a late admit, but you will only be evaluated for a BYU-Idaho Scholarship on the basis of financial need. You will be evaluated for academics if you submit the next year's BYUI Scholarship application, which is open from October 1-March
The Financial Aid Office determines the student’s official registration as of the student’s FADD. This measurement is an automatic process. Students who are not registered at this time are not eligible for Federal or University Aid.
