First Semester Attending in School Year

*In some specific cases, the future year FAFSA may be used for Spring Semester. However, this is up to the discretion of the BYU-Idaho Financial Aid Office.

REQUIRED:

Complete the FAFSA – check the chart above for the correct FAFSA needed each semester

Submit any verification documents shown as needed in your financial aid portal

• If you plan to accept loans:
  
  • Complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) at studentaid.gov
  • Complete Entrance Counseling at studentaid.gov
  • Accept offered loans in your financial aid portal
  • If you do not wish to accept loans you do not need to complete these needed documents, but they will stay on your account in case you want loans later.

Benefits of Meeting the Priority Deadline: If all required documents are submitted by the Priority Deadline and there are delays in federal financial aid disbursement, we will waive any late fees for student charges that your financial aid would have covered.

Last day to Submit Verification Documents
Whichever is earlier:

• 110 days after the last day of the last semester you attend for the award year, or
• September 1st

Failure to submit documents by this deadline may:

• Disqualify you from receiving federal financial aid for that award year
• Require repayment of funds already received

You must be registered for eligible classes at 11:59 pm on the Financial Aid Determination Date (FADD) to receive Federal Aid and/or BYU-Idaho Scholarships. This automatic process occurs on the 23rd day of the Semester or, if received later, the day your FAFSA is processed.

*Disclaimer: This date applies to students who are taking only 2nd block classes.

Your change of major must be fully processed by the Major Change Deadline for your financial aid to apply to your new program that semester.

Changes made after this deadline or during a semester will apply to your financial aid the following semester.

Recent High School Graduates applying for the 4-Year Merit Scholarship need to have all recent test scores and transcripts submitted by this deadline to receive consideration.

Transfer Students GPA will be calculated using the transcripts received in the Admissions Office prior to admission to BYU-Idaho.
