Stackable

To allow recipients the opportunity to benefit from additional financial support, these Full, Half, and Quarter tuition Scholarships will be stackable up to full LDS tuition with the following scholarships available from BYU-Idaho:

  • Merit Scholarship: A four-year award designed to recognize and reward exceptional high school academic achievement of incoming freshmen attending as campus students.
  • The BYU-Idaho Scholarship: This need-based scholarship requires an application in addition to the coming year’s FAFSA to be completed by March 1.
  • Talent Scholarships: Available directly from the Art, Dance, Journalism, Theater, and Music departments on campus.
  • Returned Missionary Scholarship: A one-time $500 scholarship will be automatically awarded for a returned missionary's first semester back from a mission. No application is necessary.

Starting with the 2025-2026 award year, after completing 12 BYU-Idaho credits, students who received a BYU-Idaho Merit scholarship covering partial tuition can also participate in evaluations as continuing students after the Winter semester. Based on their academic performance they may become eligible for an additional BYU-Idaho Academic Scholarship awarded to continuing students. The combination of these two academic awards may not exceed full LDS tuition.

Example: As a freshman, you received a quarter tuition BYU-Idaho Merit scholarship. During your freshman year, you take more than 12 BYU-Idaho credits. Your cumulative BYU-Idaho 3.96 GPA after your first Winter Semester qualifies you for a Full tuition award. Your BYU-Idaho Merit scholarship will stay at ¼ tuition and an additional BYU-Idaho Academic Award will be added to make up the difference. The combination of these two awards may not exceed full LDS tuition.
