How Do I Get My Idaho LAUNCH Grant at BYU-Idaho?

Ensure your declared program at BYU-Idaho matches what you have declared as your program in your Idaho Launch portal.

    • If you need to change your BYU-Idaho Major this must be completely processed by the Major Change Deadline.
    • If you need to update your declared program in the Idaho Launch Portal please follow the directions in this PDF.

Idaho LAUNCH will only pay for Program Applicable credits.

If you have completed all of these steps you should see your Idaho LAUNCH Grant in your financial aid portal a week before the semester starts.

When Do I Get My Idaho LAUNCH Money?

If you are enrolled in 12 or more Program Applicable credits your Idaho LAUNCH grant will be processed to your student account in the first 3-5 days of the semester.

If you are enrolled in fewer than 12 credits we will not disburse your grant until after the add/drop deadline, giving you time to adjust your credits.

    • Be sure to pay your 20% of tuition to avoid late fees.

All awards are adjusted to 80% of your tuition for the credits you are enrolled in on the add/drop deadline.

Awards are added to your student account and are automatically applied toward your tuition.

What if I Receive My Idaho Launch Grant and Then I Need To Drop Classes?

    Dropping Some Classes:

    • After FADD, you should be able to keep the funds.
    • If we haven't requested the Grant funds from the state yet, you will need to return the funds for the classes you drop.
      • We usually request the funds after the add/drop deadline

    Withdraw from All Classes:

    • You must return the Launch Grant funds
      • If you withdraw before the add/drop deadline: return funds to BYU-Idaho
      • If you withdraw after the add/drop deadline: return funds directly to the state
    • If you return your funds before your next semester, you can receive the grant again, but we will need confirmation from the state to disburse them.
    • If you don't return funds within 6 months, you permanently lose Launch Grant eligibility.

    Renewing Your Award

To continue to receive the LAUNCH grant you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.

Recipients must expend all grant funds ($8,000) within 3 years of the award date.

A break in enrollment of more than 6 months will cancel your award unless you obtain an extension from Idaho LAUNCH.
