BYU-Idaho will award federal financial aid for four remedial courses offered by the university. The courses are:
- ENG 106
- ENG 109
- MATH 100B
- MATH 101
A student will be limited to 30 attempted credits of remedial courses for federal financial aid. These courses are not considered program applicable or as electives for financial aid purposes. Additionally, these courses will be:
- Included in Satisfactory Academic Progress Pace & GPA
- Included in grade-level progression
- Included in enrollment level
- Included to determine the Cost of Attendance
- Subject to the Financial Aid Determination Date
Repeated Courses
A student may receive federal financial aid only once to retake a previously passed course (D- or higher grade). A withdrawal (W) or an unofficial withdrawal (UW) does not count as attempts and should not be counted in determining eligibility for Federal Aid.
Examples of Ineligible Repeat determination:
1. A student* takes & repeats the same course as follows:
1 st attempt = final grade of D
2 nd attempt = Withdrawal (W)
3 rd attempt = Unofficial Withdrawal (UW)
4 th attempt = final grade of F
5 th attempt = final grade of C
*This student may be paid Federal Aid for the first four course attempts, but not the fifth.
2. A student** takes & repeats the same course as follows:
1 st attempt = final grade of F
2 nd attempt = final grade of C
3 rd attempt = final grade of F
4 th attempt = final grade of F
** This student may be paid Federal Aid for the first 3 attempts, but not the fourth.
