What is entrance/exit counseling for loans?


Entrance and exit counseling are mandatory sessions you must complete to understand your rights and responsibilities for accepting and repaying your federal student loans. All sessions are completed online through the FederalStudentAidwebsite.

EntranceCounseling: a mandatory session you must complete if it is your first time borrowing a federal loan. It explains your rights and responsibilities you agree to meet to accept direct loans.

ExistCounseling: a mandatory session you must complete when you leave school, graduate, or fall below the half-time enrollment (less than 6 credits). It provides important information to prepare you to repay your student federal loans.
