BYU-Idaho Scholarship

Approaching Deadlines

2024-2025 FAFSA

Due to the technical difficulties students have experienced with the new 2024-2025 FAFSA, we have extended our BYU-Idaho Scholarship deadline until Monday, April 1, 2024. This extension is only for 2024-2025!

You may still qualify for a quarter, half, or full tuition academic and/or need-based scholarship. Complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA application and the BYU-Idaho Scholarship application.

Application

To be evaluated for both academic and need based consideration for the BYU-Idaho Scholarship, students must complete the BYU-Idaho Scholarship Application and corresponding FAFSA by March 1st. International and DACA students are not required to submit the FAFSA. Students wishing to be evaluated only for academic consideration do not need to complete the FAFSA.

Late Admittance/Return for Scholarship Application

Students who are admitted to BYU-Idaho or return from their mission after the scholarship deadline may complete the BYU-Idaho scholarship application upon late admittance/return. These students may submit the application up until FADD or 23 days past the first day of their first semester attending after being admitted or returning home from their mission.

No Exceptions

If a student does not complete the BYU-Idaho scholarship application on time, no exceptions will be made to reopen the application. All submissions are final. Students should read each question completely and check their application before submission.

Recently Returned Missionaries

Recently Returned Missionaries must complete the required applications before the full-semester Financial Aid Determination Date (FADD) of their first semester back in order to be evaluated.

Late Admits

Students who are admitted to BYU-Idaho after the March 1st deadline can complete the BYU-Idaho Scholarship application and corresponding FAFSA for financial need only. Awards are based on fund availability. Late admits will NOT be given academic consideration, and they must complete the required applications before the full-semester Financial Aid Determination Date (FADD) of their first semester in order to be evaluated.

Awarding

  • Award amounts are in reference to tuition costs for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • The BYU-Idaho Scholarship will be awarded for all three semesters but will not exceed full LDS tuition amounts per semester.
    • Students who do not attend a semester they have been awarded will forfeit the individual award for that semester (exceptions to this rule are students who submit a mission deferment with the Admissions Office).
    • Awards cannot be moved or combined.
  • Students must be enrolled in 12 or more credits as of the Full Semester Financial Aid Determination Date (FADD) to receive their full award. This means students MUST be enrolled in any 2nd block classes by the Full Semester FADD to receive and keep their grant.
    • Credits do NOT need to be program applicable. However, audited courses do not count.
    • Students taking 6-11.5 credits as of Full Semester FADD will receive a prorated portion of their grant - students do not need to contact the Financial Aid Office to have grants prorated.
    • The prorated award amount can be determined by finding the student's original award amount on the 12+ credit row and then following that column down to the number of currently enrolled credits.
