Identifying At-Risk Students Through the Mentoring Dashboard
The information in the Mentoring Dashboard is protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). University employees may access personal student information only for academic purposes. Mentoring Dashboard Overview
- Filters. While in your “My Courses”, “My Watchlists”, or “My Mentees” you can filter by Early Alert status, enrollment status, track assignment, student typed, classification, cumulative GPA (CGPA), major, etc.
- Student picture and student information. Click anywhere on this box to go to this student’s profile page in Mentoring Dashboard)
- Early Alert status (High, Medium, Low). Early alert is a predictive analytics model that shows the likelihood of a student earning below a 2.0 semester GPA without intervention.
Student Profile
- Student information. Student’s picture, I-number, classification, track assignment, etc.
- Factors influencing success. A list of many factors that influence a student’s success. This information can help you understand better where a student may be struggling or needs help.
- Notes. A place to record notes about the student that can be seen by other BYUIdaho employees (e.g., Advisers, Mentors, and other faculty)
Academic Information
- Current Courses. If the student is enrolled in the current semester, this is a list of their current courses with an estimated GPA for each class from Canvas.
- GPA history of a student’s semester GPAs and cumulative GPA each semester of enrollment.
- Most recently completed semester. This shows courses and course grades from the most recently completed semester.
- Cumulative totals. Displays cumulative GPA, how many terms a student has attended BYUI, as well as cumulative totals of attempted and earned credits. Click “View All Semesters” to see courses and grades for each semester the student has attended BYUIdaho.
