Campus Facilities
The Food Science program is housed within the Science and Technology Center (STC), a 108,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility that also serves the Animal Science, Applied Plant Science, Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, and Electrical Engineering programs. Construction of the facility was completed in the Fall of 2016.
The Food Science program has multiple laboratory facilities with focused capabilities to meet a diversity of instructional hands-on learning and research activities. Laboratory facilities range from food product development and processing spaces to analytical laboratories devoted to sensory evaluation, food/instrumental analysis, and mentored research activities.
Instead of a single pilot-scale processing facility, the Food Science program has created multiple food processing spaces dedicated to general purpose, dairy, and meat processing. The Dairy and Meat processing facilities will be government inspected and thus, capable of producing products for commercial sale.
