Leaving on a Mission

Once you receive your mission call, submit the Missionary Deferment Form and let us know your departure date. This form officially holds your place at BYU-Idaho until you return. It will automatically drop any courses you are currently enrolled in.

If you receive financial aid, you must defer it before leaving. Failure to do so may result in losing your aid. Contact the Financial Aid Office and inform them of your departure date.

If you have a housing contract, you are responsible for selling or cancelling it. After you submit your deferment form, a hold will be placed on your account and you will not be able to sign up for housing until your return.

Before you leave, add your parents to your Duo Mobile account and grant them access to the Parent Portal so they can assist you while you are away.

It is easier to apply and secure your spot before your mission rather than applying while you are serving.

When accepting your offer, select "I'll attend after my mission." This selection does not automatically defer you. It simply helps us understand your plans.

You must still complete the Missionary Deferment Form to officially hold your place.
