RixStix Percussion Group
Whether you are looking at percussion study as a career or hobby, we encourage you to audition for our ensembles! You'll enjoy multiple performance opportunities, a full complement of instruments, and the newly added percussion suite, which includes individual practice facilities for timpani, drum set, electronic percussion, multiple percussion, and keyboards.
RixStix Percussion Ensemble
The Percussion Ensemble performs music from all style periods and genres for as few as two players up to the full ensemble. In addition to concerts, workshops are often scheduled for area school districts including a biennial "Concert from the Hart" for elementary school children, a concert combining all components of the RixStix Percussion Group. Concurrent enrollment in percussion lessons is encouraged but not required. No audition is required.
RixStix Drumline
The Rix Stix Drumline is the official "Academic Society" on campus for rudimental percussionists. Members of the group receive instruction on playing technique and are encouraged to develop a variety of drumming skills. Membership is open to all students, faculty, and family members of faculty on campus, as well as to students enrolled in the local public school system. No audition is required.

Rix Stix Steel
Join the Steel Drum Band and be part of one of the most high-energy ensembles on campus! Whether you’re a seasoned musician or completely new to steel pans, you’ll find a welcoming, hands-on environment where you can jump in right away. Learn vibrant Caribbean grooves, popular tunes, and world music styles while performing with a dynamic group of students. With no prior experience required and instruments provided, this is a great way to meet people, have fun, and keep music in your life. Come make great music—and great memories—with us! The ability to read music is required.
