Dr. Kevin Meyer is a versatile percussionist from Sioux Falls, South Dakota and is currently the Director of Percussion at Brigham Young University - Idaho (BYUI) and also the Principal Percussionist in the Idaho Falls Symphony.

Prior to his appointment at BYUI he was the principal percussionist in the United States Naval Academy Band (USNAB). During his tenure (2008-2020) in the USNAB he performed in the Concert Band, Brass Ensemble, marching/ceremonial units, chamber winds, and drumset in the Commandant’s Combo, Superintendent’s Jazz Combo, Navy Blues and Gold Blues Band, Riptide Jazz Ensemble, and the Crabtowne Stompers New Orleans style band. He has also performed at the International Tuba Euphonium Conference in Malaga, Spain, Knoxville, TN, Tempe, AZ, and multiple regional ITEC festivals.

Dr. Meyer has performed as a soloist with the United States Naval Academy Band, Indiana University Wind Ensemble, Tar River Symphonic Band, ECU Percussion Ensemble, Snow College Percussion Ensemble, and the BYU - Provo Percussion Ensemble. He has also performed with the Ballet West Orchestra in Salt Lake City, UT, 2002 Salt Lake Olympics Band Drumline, Eastern Symphony Orchestra, Raleigh Symphony, and as drummer/ percussionist for the Loessin Summer Theater Orchestra. He was the winner of the 2001 Utah Percussive Arts Society Rudimental Snare Drum Solo Competition, and has performed in clinics at the International Association of Jazz Educators and Percussive Arts Society International Convention.

Dr. Meyer has received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Maryland, College Park; a Master of Music in Percussion Performance from East Carolina University; and a Bachelor of Music Education from Brigham Young University, Provo. His teachers include Eric LeVan, Mike Mayer, Ron Brough, Jay Lawrence, Jonathan Wacker, Kevin Bobo, John Tafoya, Craig Hetrick, Dr. Lee Hinkle, and Steve Houghton.
