Payment Plans

Learn how you can pay for school.
Payment Plan
  • A payment plan cannot be set up until your charges are past due
  • The minimum required payment plan is a 10% monthly payment of the total outstanding balance.
  • You must set up a formal payment plan with our office to prevent the collection process. Just paying 10% without setting up a payment plan will not stop the collection process.
  • Even if a payment plan is set up you cannot register for classes until the debt is completely paid in full and the holds are removed.
  • Setting up a payment plan does not stop the 5% Late Fee that is applied after the 1st week of the semester or the 1% Service Charge that is applied at the end of each month.

To set up a payment plan, please follow the steps linked below (you may also contact BYU-Idaho by phone (208) 496-1411 or email collections@byui.edu):

Set Up Payment Plan Steps
Online Payments
Paying online through Personal Account is easy, convenient, and secure. You must sign in to your account to see your current balance, charges, and other options.

Checking and Savings Account - (No Convenience Fee)

Payments processed online using your checking or savings account are similar to paying with a paper check. Because it is processed in the same manner, no convenience fee will be charged to your account. Be prepared with your routing number and your account number (not a card number).

Disabled Checking and Savings Account Options

If you are unable to pay with your Checking or Savings Account online, the option has likely been disabled because:
  1. Your payment was returned multiple times.
  2. You stopped an online payment. This will immediately disable the Checking and Savings Account option.
  3. You used an international account. We are only able to accept U.S. accounts.
If your checking or savings account payment option has been disabled, please contact BYU-Idaho at 208-496-1900 or bursar@byui.edu to resolve this situation.

Debit or Credit Card (Service Fee)

We accept most major credit and debit cards including Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. By contracting with a third party, we are able to achieve PCI compliance and thus safeguard sensitive cardholder data. The third-party vendor charges a convenience fee to each debit and credit card transaction that we process. The rate for domestic cards is currently 2.95% and 4.25% for international cards. Transactions over $40.00 are subject to a minimum $3 fee.
