Using the End of Course Survey Automatic Completion Reporting Tool

Please encourage your students to participate in the End of Course survey. Some faculty do this by offering extra credit to students who complete it. If you would like to offer extra credit, please add the End of Course survey to your course as an assignment using the instructions found below.

When the survey is added to your course as an assignment, extra credit is awarded in the gradebook automatically, as soon as students complete the survey in your section. To receive the points, students must access the survey via the link in the course.

If a student has not finished the survey for your course, clicking the link will let them evaluate your course and will tell Canvas that they have completed it.

If they have finished the survey for your course, clicking the link will tell Canvas that they have finished your survey and will not make the student take it again.

Note

There are multiple ways for a student to get into the End of Course Survey. This tool will only return a grade if the student clicked the link in your Canvas course.

How to Add the Reporting Tool to Canvas

Step 1

Select “External Tool"

Under “Submission Type,” select “External Tool”, and click “Find." Then scroll down to End of Course Evaluation, and click “Select."

Step 2

Select “End of Course Evaluation"

In the list that pops up, select “End of Course Evaluation.”

Step 3

Check “Load This Tool in a New Tab”

Make sure that you check the “Load This Tool in a New Tab” box.

Step 4

Adjust Settings As Needed

Be sure the Due, From, and Until dates are all correct. If they are not, students will not be able to complete the survey at the correct time.

DUE is the last official day of the semester at midnight
FROM is the Saturday of Week 12 (Saturday Week 6 for Block 1)
UNTIL is the last official day of the semester
