Professional Testing

The Professional Testing area is a division of BYUI’s Testing Center. The campus testing area proctors exams from BYUI classes. The Professional Testing area proctors exams administered from outside institutions or companies.

The Testing Center is located in the basement level of the Manwaring Center, room 5. When you enter the main forum, turn right to enter the office area. The Professional Testing area is located behind our secretary desk. Printable Map

What you'll need to bring depends entirely on the specific test you're taking. Every test has its own unique rules about what's allowed. The best way to know for sure is to check with the test sponsor—they are the only ones who can give you the definitive list.

Generally, all tests require you to bring at least one valid government-issued photo ID or passport. This is a strict rule, and if you don't have it, you won't be able to take the test. Be sure you know which IDs and how many you need to bring with you.

We will provide pencils and scratch paper for all tests. For some exams, a whiteboard or calculator is built directly into the testing software.

*The most important thing is to confirm what your test requires you to bring before your appointment. Please be aware that if a government-issued ID is required and you don't have it, you will be turned away.

No personal belongings are allowed in the testing room. We will provide a secure locker with a key for you to store your belongings. This includes car keys, wallet, purse, cell phone, backpack, food or drinks, etc.

We have limited waiting area space, and our staff cannot be responsible for supervising guests. We strongly recommend that you make arrangements for childcare or transportation ahead of time, as friends, family, and children cannot wait in the testing center during your exam.

No, the Professional Testing area of the Testing Center never charges fees to take your test with us. You may need to pay a fee to the test sponsor in order to be allowed to take the test, but you will never pay the Testing Center for a reservation.

All tests in the Professional Testing area are by appointment only. If your test is administered through PearsonVue or ETS Praxis, you will schedule your appointment through their websites. All other test appointments are done by phone or walk-in.

*All pre-HESI and HESI exams are administered in the campus testing center area. These tests do not need an appointment ahead of time.

We have no control over what happens to your test after you finish. Contact your test sponsor to find out when you will receive your scores.

This is the exam that you will take to apply for the nursing program here at BYU-Idaho. This test is taken in the campus Testing Center, not Professional Testing. Once you have registered for the test, you do not need to make an appointment, you can come take your test when you choose. Please communicate with BYUI’s Department of Nursingfor any questions. BYU-Idaho offers proctoring services for the automotive service excellence exam. Contact the Testing Center for more information and to schedule a time to come in and take the exam. Register for an ASE exam.

If you wish to take a language exam to potentially receive Pass credits, you can take the BYU FLATS test.

The BYU-Idaho Testing Center is an authorized Pearson VUE testing site providing innovative computer-based testing solutions for certification and select professional licensure exams. Pearson VUE provides a list of available certification tests for a wide variety of disciplines and programs. Schedule your test through their site.

The ALEKS test is not proctored by the Testing Center. See this page to get more information on what you need to do to take the assessment.

The BYU-Idaho Testing Center is a member of the Consortium of College Testing Centers. As a member, we are happy to open our doors to you to take any test. Here's a basic guide to help you schedule and take your test here at BYU-Idaho.

• Call us at 208-496-1760 or e-mail us at professionaltesting@byui.edu to see if we can proctor your test. We will need to know what type of test it is, how it is administered, and where we send the results.
• Contact the professor, institution, or organization responsible for the test and let them know you wish to take it here, at BYU-Idaho. Our website may be used for contact and test administration information.
• Contact us again to schedule an appointment.
• Confirm with us that everything has been taken care of a few days before taking your test.
• Show up and take your test. (We do not charge any test fees).

When you finish your test, we will send it back to the professor, institution, or organization responsible for the test. You will need to contact them for your grade.
