- Drug and alcohol centers (as an assistant)
- Residential treatment homes for adolescents
- Victim/witness support services (CASA, often on a volunteer basis)
- Adult developmental disability services
- Foster care programs
- After-school program directors
- Recreational specialists in treatment facilities
- Nursing home activities coordinator
- Child care protective services
- Family resource center
- Psychosocial rehabilitation specialist (PSR)

- Social work
- Counseling
- Educational psychology (working in public schools)
- Marriage and family therapy
- Community counseling
- School counseling
- Rehabilitative counseling
- Family studies (more emphasis on teaching and education)
