Christmas Tree Lane
Christmas Tree Lane is returning to BYU-Idaho for its second consecutive year on campus. This longstanding tradition has existed for decades. The first citation of Christmas Tree Lane is listed in the book The Spirit of Ricks. It states that President Marion G. Romney visited campus and walked through Christmas Tree Lane on December 12, 1972.
Guidelines
Invitation and Registration
Your organization is invited to decorate a tree for Christmas Tree Lane. To participate, register online and be sure to list your tree height preference (9’ or 7.5’). Tree quantities are limited. Organizations will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.
Theme
This year’s theme is “Christmas Carols.” Organizations are invited to choose a Christmas carol or song and bring it to life with their tree through decorations.
Trees and Spending Cap
The first 26 organizations to register online will be assigned a pre-lit (warm-white) artificial tree to decorate. Organizations are welcome to provide their own artificial tree with tree stand if you have one. Organizations are capped spending-wise at $100 on tree decorations.
Decorating Days
- Organizations can start decorating their tree beginning Tuesday, November 14, at 3:00 p.m.
- All tree decorating must be completed up by 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, for judging prior to the “Campus Christmas” event.
- Trees should remain up through Monday, December 25, and must be taken down prior to Monday, January 1, 2024.
Judging and Prizes
Trees will be judged between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, according to the award categories below. Each organization that wins an award will receive a hot cocoa and sugar cookie decorating party in December.
