BYU-Idaho has released a special logo to mark the 25th anniversary of the prophetic announcement that Ricks College would become a four-year university called Brigham Young University-Idaho. The new design is part of an 18-month-long celebration highlighting the historic transition and the university’s continued growth.

The commemorative logo blends key visual elements from both institutional eras. It features the mountain motif from Ricks College’s 1988 Centennial logo, the bold typography of BYU-Idaho’s current promotional mark, and a shield symbolizing the “shield of faith” described in Doctrine and Covenants 27:17.

“Nearly 100 concepts have been explored, with input from University Communications and the President’s Council helping guide the direction,” said Tony Carpenter, creative services manager. “Our student designers have been hard at work creating a logo to mark the 25th anniversary of the BYU–Idaho announcement.”

Hundreds of members of the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni, provided input on the logo’s design during its development.

The limited-edition logo will be featured across campus, on digital platforms, on select merchandise, and in three special editions of the BYU-Idaho Magazine throughout the celebration.

“These past 25 years have been about the fulfillment of prophecy,” said Stephen Mendenhall, media creation manager. “This is a moment to boldly declare our identity and purpose, emphasizing how far BYU-Idaho has come in just 25 years and how bright the future looks as we continue building on a divinely guided foundation.”

The anniversary campaign will continue through the end of 2026 and includes storytelling efforts, events, and outreach that highlight the university’s legacy and ongoing mission to “develop disciples of Jesus Christ who are leaders in their homes, the Church, and their communities.”
