Fall 2021 Campus Construction Update

Auxiliary Services Building

Since Stores and Receiving and Mail Services moved out of the Auxiliary Services Building last year, BYU-Idaho has begun work on remodeling the building for academic purposes.

Automotive engineering technology, construction management, and civil engineering programs will use this building as an extension of the Austin Building. Construction will continue through the Winter 2022 Semester, with classrooms opening up for the Spring 2022 Semester.

Hart Building Renovation

The Hart Building is currently in the fourth and final stage of its renovation process. The renovation of both the men’s and women’s locker rooms are scheduled to be completed at the beginning of the Winter 2022 Semester. The new locker rooms will provide more privacy for students and employees.

At the same time, the Hart’s main gym is also seeing updates. To allow a more customizable experience for future events, curtains have been installed in the ceiling of the gym. These partitions will make the room adaptable to a variety of performances by separating the auditorium into different size venues.

New air conditioning and fire protection systems have been installed in the Hart Building fitness center. In addition, the fitness center will see other interior renovations such as new paint.

Concrete around Manwaring Center

Pedestrian traffic around the northwest corner of the Manwaring Center has been diverted to make way for new and improved sidewalks, stairs, railings, and an underground snowmelt system. The project is expected to be completed before winter weather sets in this year.

Clarke Building Child Development Lab

A outdoor playground next to the Clarke Building’s child development lab is nearing completion. The playground which serves as a recess facility for child lab pre-school students will be completed before the end of the Fall 2021 Semester. The pre-school students will be able to enjoy the new play area in the Spring 2022 Semester.

Student Activities & Involvement Center

Construction for the new Student Activities & Involvement Center located near the southwest entrance of the Manwaring Center is nearly finished. Contractors will finish construction before the end of the Fall 2021 Semester, allowing Activities to move into the new space in preparation for the Winter 2022 Semester.

Once the new Student Activities & Involvement Center opens, remodeling will begin in the Student Activities’ current location across from the University Store in preparation for the new Academic Advising Center.
