Food Science: Technology Emphasis (B.S.)

Food science combines biology, chemistry, engineering, and nutrition to study food production. This science seeks to understand food composition, develop new foods, improve processing methods, and ensure quality and safety from farm to table. The technology emphasis focuses on preparing students for careers in food science right after graduation.

Food Science Technology Introduction

At BYU-Idaho, the technological emphasis in food science offers a straightforward path to employment for students. With slightly less intensive courses in the program, you can focus on the core of food science, so you will be prepared for work right after graduation. While you won’t have all of the required courses for graduate school, you’ll still have a variety of classes to prepare you for your future career.

As a student in the food science technology program, you will take classes in:
