Graduation
In the semester that you complete your degree program you are only required to take whatever is left for graduation, even if this is less than 12 credits. You must be in the Rexburg area taking at least one on-campus class. The only exception is a full-time internship that is required for graduation (see the Internships page for more information). **please link to CPT Policy document** If your only remaining class is only offered online, you will be required to take another in-person class that is not required.
After graduation, you have a grace period of 60 days to do one of the following:
- Apply for OPT
- Transfer schools
- Prepare for departure
- Submit a Change of Status application
You must alert International Services that it is your last semester by filling out one of the two forms below:
Last Semester Request (if you are leaving the U.S., transferring immediately to another school, or applying for a Change of Status)
OPT Request (if you want to apply for OPT).
Please see the OPT page here **please link OPT page** for more information on how to apply.
If for any reason you do not graduate after informing the International Office that it was your last semester, please meet with an advisor in the International Office immediately to discuss if there are any options for you.
You must also apply for graduation to be included in the graduation ceremonies. You can find more information about this here.
If you have family traveling to the United States to attend your graduation ceremony, please note that visa support letters are not taken into consideration by embassy officials.
