Graduation

In their last semester, international students are required to be in the Rexburg area taking at least one on-campus class. The only exception is a full-time internship that is required for graduation (see the Internships page for more information). **please link the Internships tab under the Current Students tab** In your last semester, you are only required to take the remaining classes required for graduation, even if this does not equate to 12 credits.

After graduation, you have a grace period of about 50 days to do one of the following:

  • Apply for OPT
  • Transfer Schools
  • Leave the United States
  • Submit a Change of Status application

You must alert International Services that it is your last semester by either filling out the Last Semester Request if you are going to leave the country, or the OPT Request if you want to apply for OPT. Please see the OPT page here **please link OPT page** for more information on how to apply. If for any reason you do not graduate after informing the International Office that it was your last semester, please meet with an advisor immediately to discuss if there are any options for you.

You must also apply for graduation to be included in the graduation ceremonies. You can find more information about this here.

If you have family traveling to the United States to attend your graduation ceremony, International Services will not provide any documentation for visa interviews.
