GMAT® Information
The Basics:
The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)® is a standardized assessment-delivered in English-that helps business schools assess the qualifications of applicants for advanced study in business and management. Schools use the test as one predictor of academic performance in an MBA program or in other graduate management programs. The GMAT® exam measures:
- Your knowledge of business
- Your job skills
- Specific content in your undergraduate or first university course work
- Your abilities in any other specific subject area, and
- Subjective qualities-such as motivation, creativity, and interpersonal skills
Format and Time Length:
The GMAT® exam consists of three main parts: Analytical Writing Assessment, Quantitative, and Verbal.
Grad School Requirements:
- Scores range from 200 to 800
- Percentile ranking (percentage of ranking among scores in last 3 years)
- Most schools require a minimum of 500 or 65 %
- BYU-Provo requires a 600
- GMAT® score expires after 5 years
Test Season:
The GMAT® is generally given in October, January, March, and June. Since the majority of business schools send out their acceptances in the spring, take the exam as early as possible to ensure that the scores are received before application deadlines. If you're in Rexburg, you can take GMAT® in the BYU-Idaho testing center. Information about the exact dates of the exam, fees, other testing locations, and registration can be found on Graduate Management Admission Council's website.
