Theatre Council is a student-run Academic Society that allows students to be involved in BYU-Idaho's Theatre Department. It is responsible for opening night soirees, production talk-backs, student directed productions, student feedback for productions, playwright readings/performances, and many other theatrical activities.
Who Can Join?
The Theatre Council is open to all students, regardless of major.
Meetings are held every first Thursday of the month, from 2 pm to 3 pm in the Actor's Studio located in the Snow building.
Workshop courses are offered by the Theatre Council on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Thursdays of the month, from 2 pm to 3 pm.
For more information about, contact the Theatre Council's faculty advisor Justin Bates, 208-496-4826.
We encourage students to seek out opportunities for their own experiential learning. If you are interested in proposing an event (student-run productions, workshops, field trips, etc.) not normally offered at BYU-Idaho, there are lots of resources available to you!
Resources for creating a proposal:
- Attend Theatre Council meetings. Discuss what it is you would like to do, and brainstorm ways to make it a reality.
- Speak to others who are interested in being involved in your proposal.
- Fill out and turn in a Request Proposal Guidelines.
