Internship Approval

You should always visit with your Department Internship Coordinator before searching for a position, to ensure you understand all your department's guidelines, as specifics may vary by department.

Internship Approval Process

  1. Student
    • Find Internship
    • Complete Approval Form on Career Navigator
      • Log on to Career Navigator with your NetID and password (that you use to log in to your My BYUI account). You will be asked to complete a few profile questions if you have never logged in to Career Navigator before.
      • Click on Internships in the QuickLinks menu on the home page.
      • Click Add New.
      • Enter necessary information and submit.
    • Notify experience provider that they must submit a master agreement.
  2. Experience Provider
    • Log on to Career Navigator and submit a master agreement.
  3. Academic Discovery Center
    • Emails faculty coordinator for approval.
  4. Faculty Coordinator
    • Reviews and may request additional information.
    • Approves and notifies ADC noting number of credits.
  5. Academic Discovery Center
    • Authorizes student to add the course and notifies student
  6. Student
    • Registers for course after receiving authorization emails (if off track Student Records and Registration must add student to course).
  7. Bursars Office
    • Charges credits as follows:
      All internship credits charged at half price unless student is already at full tuition before internship credits are added.  If internship credits bring student's total to 12 student will not be charged full tuition, but will be charged full price for regular course credits and half price for internship course credits.
