Physics is devoted to the study of matter and energy. Advances in our understanding of matter and its interactions have led to great scientific and technological progress.

The goals of the Physics Department include:
- helping students gain an appreciation of nature's basic physical concepts
- improve problem solving skills
- develop logical thought processes that they can use throughout their lives.
