In most every case, a clean apartment is a happy apartment. Do your part.
One of the most distracting problems of apartment living is a messy apartment. Your apartment is a reflection of you and your roommates. Keeping it clean and free of messes will create a positive environment for you and anyone who visits your apartment.
Take the trash out. Make a weekly cleaning schedule. Wash the dishes. Clean up after yourself and don't leave messes behind.
