Differences in Spatiotemporal Variables and Join Angles Following Resisted Sprint Training in Youth Ice Hockey Players
This study examined whether resisted sprint training can meaningfully change sprint mechanics in competitive youth ice hockey players. After eight weeks, on-ice and overground resisted sprint training produced different adaptations in step rate, while overground resisted sprint training also increased trunk angle at touchdown. These findings suggest that strategically selected resisted sprint methods may help coaches target specific sprint-mechanics qualities that transfer across ice hockey performance development.

Differences in Sprint Profile Following Resisted Sprint Training in Youth Ice Hockey Players
This study examined whether resisted sprint training could improve the force-velocity sprint profile of competitive male youth ice hockey players. After eight weeks, both overground and on-ice resisted sprint training increased sprint force, power, and maximal ratio of force, while also altering the force-velocity slope. These findings suggest that resisted sprint training may be a valuable tool for coaches seeking to enhance key acceleration qualities in youth ice hockey athletes.

Correlation Between Isometric Mid-Thigh Pull Performance with Overground Sprinting in Male Youth Ice Hockey Players
This study examined whether isometric mid-thigh pull performance is associated with overground sprint capacity in competitive youth ice hockey players. Contrary to expectations, peak force and multiple rate-of-force development measures were not meaningfully related to 10-yard or 40-yard sprint times. These findings suggest that practitioners may need to look beyond IMTP-derived force measures when identifying assessments that best reflect sprint and skating performance in youth ice hockey athletes.

Association Between Countermovement Jump Metrics and Sprint Completion Times in Youth Athletes
This study examined how countermovement jump height relates to eccentric phase duration and modified reactive strength index in youth athletes. While longer eccentric phase duration showed a positive association with jump height, mRSI demonstrated a much stronger relationship, highlighting the importance of reactive strength and stretch-shortening cycle efficiency. These findings suggest that coaches seeking to improve explosiveness in youth athletes should prioritize training strategies that enhance both rapid force production and efficient eccentric-to-concentric transitions.

Effectiveness of a One-Week Training Camp on Isometric Mid-Thigh Pull Performance in Youth Athletes
This study examined whether a consecutive five-day speed and agility camp could produce measurable changes in isometric mid-thigh pull performance in youth athletes. Despite daily exposure to sprint mechanics, agility work, lifting technique, and plyometric training, maximal force and rate-of-force development measures did not significantly improve from pre- to post-testing. These findings suggest that short-term camps may provide valuable movement exposure, but longer and more targeted training interventions are likely needed to meaningfully enhance force production qualities.

The Impact of a Competitive Season on Jumping Performance and Body Composition in Division 1 Male Volleyball Athletes
This study tracked NCAA Division I male volleyball players across a full competitive season to examine how jump performance and body composition changed from preseason preparation through postseason competition. Despite the demands of a 16-week season, athletes maintained or improved key jump performance measures, including attack jump, block jump, and lower body power index, while lean tissue mass remained stable. These findings suggest that practitioners should strategically adjust training and body composition monitoring throughout the season to preserve explosive performance and manage changes in fat tissue percentage.

Association Between Broad Jump Distance and Sprint Completion Times in Youth Athletes
This study found that youth athletes who jumped farther in the broad jump also completed 0–10-yard, 10–40-yard, and full 0–40-yard sprints faster, with the strongest relationship observed for the complete 40-yard sprint. These findings suggest the broad jump may serve as a simple, practical indicator of short-distance acceleration and linear sprint capacity in youth athletes. For coaches and practitioners, the broad jump offers an accessible field test that may help identify and develop lower-body power qualities tied to faster sprint performance.
