Scott Flynn, MS, CSCS, CEP
Program Director, Strength & Conditioning Academy
Scott Flynn serves as Program Director of the Strength & Conditioning Academy at BYU-Idaho. A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Scott brings his passion for sports and human performance to every athlete he trains. A native of Georgia, he excelled in varsity basketball, tennis, football, and soccer, and later became a “D” licensed soccer coach with more than 15 years of club coaching experience.
Scott has embraced endurance sport, completing nearly 100 triathlon events from sprint to full Ironman distance, earning All-American honors from USA Triathlon from 2013–2016, and top finishes in major races. He also mentors students as they prepare for careers in performance training, combining evidence-based programming with character development. Outside the academy, Scott enjoys endurance sports and supporting students as they pursue personal and professional growth.

Martin Dietze-Hermosa, Ph.D., CSCS, D, USAW, PES, FMS
Program Director, Strength & Conditioning Academy
Martin Dietze-Hermosa serves as Program Director of the Strength & Conditioning Academy and faculty in the Exercise Physiology program at BYU-Idaho. He earned his Bachelor’s in Exercise Physiology at BYU-Idaho, a Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Utah, and a Doctorate in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Dr. Dietze-Hermosa holds advanced strength and conditioning certifications and has conducted extensive research in sports performance, sprint training, and aging and exercise, presenting at multiple academic conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. He has led youth performance programs and supervised training that helped a local ice hockey team earn a state championship. Martin’s coaching philosophy emphasizes lifelong fitness, technical excellence, and personal confidence. Off the field, he enjoys competitive sports and mentoring students as they build meaningful careers in human performance.

Parker Atamanczyk
Coach, Strength & Conditioning Academy
Parker is a passionate athlete and coach with a strong background in soccer, speed, and strength training. A local from Idaho Falls, he has played soccer his entire life and brings a deep understanding of movement, agility, and athletic performance. In addition to soccer, Parker has competed in track and field running the 400m and 1600m and competing in pole vault, giving him a well-rounded foundation in speed, power, and endurance.
Parker has been consistently strength training for over two years and is committed to helping athletes move better, get stronger, and perform at a higher level. He also enjoys staying active through sports like dirt biking, snowboarding, and pickleball, which
contribute to his versatile athletic approach.
Currently studying Exercise Physiology, Parker is driven by helping young athletes build confidence, improve performance, and unlock their full potential through smart, intentional training. He brings energy, knowledge, and a genuine passion for helping athletes succeed both on and off the field.

Rylie Davis
Coach, Strength & Conditioning Academy
Rylie is from Saratoga Springs, Utah, where she first discovered her love for running through track and cross country in high school. After graduating, that passion grew as she began running marathons and lifting weights, learning that getting stronger can also be a lot of fun. Rylie is currently studying Exercise and Rehabilitation Science and loves learning why the body moves the way it does and how training helps athletes improve. She is a certified personal trainer and has spent time working in gym environments helping people of all ages and abilities gain confidence and strength. Rylie is excited to coach at camp and loves encouraging kids to try new things, work hard, and have fun while staying active!

Nathan Gonzales
Coach, Strength & Conditioning Academy
Nathan is from Monroe, Washington and has a lifelong passion for human performance and athletics. As a competitive multi-sport athlete in high school (Football and Track & Field), he understands the demands placed on young athletes.
He is currently a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and is completing his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology at BYU-I. He is actively pursuing his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential with the goal of becoming a high school performance coach and PE teacher to combine his academic knowledge with his passion for exercise and sports. Nathan is dedicated to teaching campers proper mechanics, injury prevention, and how to build a lifelong foundation for strength and skill performance.

Bryce Hunt
Coach, Strength & Conditioning Academy
Bryce Hunt grew up on the outskirts of Los Angeles, California where he developed a passion for performance and athletics. He competed in wrestling in high school and enjoyed playing a lot of other sports for fun.
Bryce is pursuing a degree in Exercise Physiology with an emphasis in movement and rehabilitation here at BYU-Idaho. He is in the process of applying to graduate school to earn his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
As a coach, Bryce is passionate about helping people improve in their overall health and performance. He believes in encouraging athletes to become the best version of themselves by maximizing the effort that they put into every drill and challenge. Bryce loves to watch athletes grow not only in their skills, but in their confidence, leaving camp stronger both physically and mentally.

Jacob Scibelli
Coach, Strength & Conditioning Academy
Jacob was born in Maryland and moved around frequently before his family settled in Virginia, where he finished high school. His love for exercise began with wrestling — a sport that taught him resilience and discipline. After winning only one match his first season, Jacob went on to become a three-time state qualifier and state placer. Through that journey, he experienced firsthand the power of resistance training and developed a deep passion for the physiology of exercise and continual learning. He is now a senior at BYU–Idaho and plans to apply to medical school in July.
In high school, Jacob coached elementary school wrestlers, sparking his interest in helping others reach their athletic potential. He later worked as a fitness trainer at BYU–Idaho, where he enjoyed connecting with clients and guiding them toward their fitness goals. Jacob has also contributed to exercise science research and presented his findings at the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is committed to integrating evidence-based practices into his programming to help clients achieve consistent and lasting results.

Sawyer Slagle
Coach, Strength & Conditioning Academy
Sawyer is a local from Rexburg, Idaho, where he attended Madison High School. He grew up with a passion for playing and watching sports which include soccer, basketball, track and field, and football. Sawyer has played soccer for 12 years and was able to help his team make it to the state tournament. For the last 2 years, Sawyer has been coaching soccer where he has worked with athletes between the ages of 10 and 19. He is currently studying Exercise Physiology and is planning to continue his education by attending graduate school to become a Physical Therapist. Sawyer is passionate about helping athletes to achieve their full potential on and off the field.

Eden Taylor is originally from Nashville, Tennessee and is currently pursuing a degree in Exercise Physiology, with plans to earn a master’s in athletic training. With a background in competitive soccer and experience training for half marathons and marathons, Eden brings both team sport and endurance perspectives to strength and conditioning. Eden has a strong passion for pushing athletes to become better versions of themselves, both physically and mentally. Outside the gym, Eden enjoys rock climbing and spending time outdoors and ultimately hopes to achieve her long term dream of working as an athletic trainer in the NHL.
