From camping outside of the Fremont County Courthouse at the end of July, to traveling to Boise to hear Lori Vallow-Daybell’s court proceedings, since the story of Chad Daybell, and Lori-Vallow Daybell broke back in 2019, local ShaRee Yorgesen along with many others were fascinated with the case. But her interest really took root when she listened to the Hidden True Crime podcast, a show where the hosts dive into the psychological aspects of true crime.

Anxiety disorders, depression and PTSD are just a few of the issues that have affected many of the youth in the Gem State and across the nation. Madison Cares, the mental health department for Madison School District #321, offers services, resources and education classes for families as well as children struggling with mental health related issues.

Whether you are visiting the Gem State or a new or old resident, the Eastern Idaho State Fair seeks to provide the most fun you will ever have in your life. Annually, it reigns as the largest event in the Eastern Idaho region and this year is no different with the array of activities, rides and performances it will provide.


 

In this life most people experience dark times where they feel emotionally and spiritually broken. Sometimes these feelings are invoked by an illness, death in the family, or traumatic situations which can hinder any efforts to make good decisions. Heather Carter, BYU-Idaho’s online instructor manager and this week’s devotional speaker, empathizes with anyone who shares these emotions. She says that one of the most important tools to find strength in those broken places moments is the gospel of Jesus Christ.

There are more than 300,000 children in the foster system in the United States and although there are caring foster parents to take them in their homes, there is still a great need for financial assistance and donations. A local organization is trying to help. The Village is a foster care closet that seeks out to do all they can to help foster children and is raising money through a 5K fun run

BYU-Idaho student, Ember Anderson, was working with her father in the historic town of Lahaina, Hawaii, on August 8, the day the wildfire devastated the town. She evacuated before the fire swept the town.

Sometimes the infrastructure and rules of the courtroom can be confusing and frightening to those who do not study at a law school for several years. However, the Seventh District Bar Association of Idaho will host a citizen’s law academy to educate the general public about the ins and outs of the court of law.
