October is a month of mystery and fright, and the BYU-Idaho Theatre Department’s “Agatha Christie Series” will transport audience members to a murder mystery as they become sleuths to solve the case and find out whodunit.

The series features two Agatha Christie plays performed by the same BYU-Idaho student cast. Each night, the plays alternate with “The Mousetrap” opening Wednesday and “Fiddler’s Three” opening Thursday at the Snow Drama Theatre. They will run until Oct. 18.

Director Trevor Hill hopes the audience will participate by trying to figure out who the murderer is in the plays.

“I hope that they get wrapped up into the story enough and that they feel as connected to it because we're asking them to become an active part of the storytelling,” Hill said. “I hope that they get drawn in that they feel something for these characters. They're sad when certain characters die, and they're thrilled by the discovery and the revelation of who our murderers are and how clever our characters are at discovering that and sort of saving the day.”

Whether it’s a snowstorm at Monkswell Manor where two murders take place or hiding the body of dead tycoon for an inheritance, the actors are excited to share the stories with the audience.

“I play Mrs. Boyle in ‘The Mousetrap’ and Sally inFiddler's Three’ and I love both of these roles,” said actress Ashleigh Brown. “They're so fun. They're so extreme polar opposites, but I have a blast playing them. Both shows are very different, we've got a murder mystery thriller, we've got a comedy. So, there's something for everyone to enjoy.”

“It's a spooky season, it's Halloween season, so you want to come and be thrilled and have some fun,” said actor Austin Nope. “And then also because ‘Fiddler's Three,’ it's a dark comedy, it's making light of death, and we're just having fun. It's great, it's awesome.”
