The East Idaho Home Educators will hold its conference at the Pond Student Union Building on the campus of Idaho State University on Friday and Saturday.

President Alvin F. Meredith III and his wife, Jennifer Meredith gave their devotional talks to open the Winter 2025 semester. Their topics mirrored recent general conference talks from President Russell M. Nelson, the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Faculty members from the various music degree programs will perform on the instrument they teach and show students and the community what the BYU-Idaho Music Department has to offer.

The Madison Library District has received a grant from the Madison Library Foundation and Sparklight for a new set of computers for the children’s section of the library.

Sugar-Salem High School has established itself as a dominant force in 4A athletics, with numerous state titles, including several from the boys’ basketball team. Led by head coach Shawn Freeman since 2013, the team has achieved consistent success, winning multiple championships. This season, the Diggers have started strong with a solid record and notable defensive improvements. They aim to continue their winning streak and to add another championship banner to their collection.

The Museum of Idaho, located in Idaho Falls, is preparing for a new exhibit next month following the Above and Beyond exhibit leaving on January 5.

The fires burning in southern California continue to spread, even affecting at least one BYU-Idaho student. Churches in the area are requesting prayers.

Rexburg has always been an active town and on Feb. 8 at 10 a.m., a Nordic ski cross-country race is happening at the Rexburg Winter Fest at the Teton Lakes Golf Course.

Senator Doug Ricks, R-Dist. 34, has served Idaho in the legislature for years now. A small business owner and former BYU-Idaho employee, in 2020, he finished his first term in the House of Representatives in Idaho. He’s now in his second term as a state senator for Idaho’s 34th District. Since then, he’s become the Vice Chair of Judiciary & Rules and a member of the Local Government and Taxation committee.
