Recreation Management Introduction

This major is about more than going out and having fun. At BYU-Idaho, the recreation management major offers the opportunity to plan, organize, and administer recreation and sports programs for everyone. Students in this major will experience public and general recreation, commercial recreation, outdoor recreation, sports, tourism, event management, conventions, and therapeutic recreation.

As a student in the recreation management major, you’ll:

Learn to manage large-scale events and programs

Create wholesome recreation programs that include everyone

Understand principles of recreation and management

Experience outdoor and organizational leadership

Learn how to create and manage your own business

Participate in a semester-long internship
