Dress and Grooming
Graduation exercises at BYU-Idaho differ than most others in that we invite the ministry of the Spirit by our conduct and proceedings. Accordingly, and to show respect for everyone present, graduates are asked to adhere to BYU-Idaho's dress and grooming standard of Sunday dress.
Additionally, so as not to draw attention to any one individual:
- Flowers, leis, and other embellishments that might be considered academic regalia should not be attached to or worn with the cap and gown. Outside of Graduation ceremonies, the wearing of honor cords and other regalia are permitted for society and other graduation pictures.*
- Position the tassel on the left side of the academic cap, and wear the cap squarely on your head. Male graduates should remove their caps for prayers and posting of the Colors. Do not put anything on your cap other than your tassel.
Cap and gown pickup will take place at Grad Fest. Pickup for those unable to attend Grad Fest will be held in front of the University Store on the day of Graduation, 9:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. We will then move to the BYU-Idaho Center basketball courts from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. All graduates may keep the cap, gown, and tassel. Pre-order of cap and gown.
*Honor cords and other academic regalia are not provided by the University.
Date: Thursday, April 9, 2020 | Time: 5:00 pm | Location: BYU-Idaho Center's Recreational Area
