ChatGPT Edu

ChatGPT Edu provides BYU-Idaho employees and students access to a secure, institutional AI workspace through the Church Educational System (CES), for teaching, learning, and university work.

Sign in with your BYU-Idaho username to access ChatGPT Edu. After signing in, select the CES ChatGPT workspace to use the data protections provided through the university’s authorized ChatGPT Edu license.

Setting Up ChatGPT Edu

Step 1
Sign In to ChatGPT
Go to ChatGPT and select Log in.

Enter your BYU-Idaho username in this format:

USERNAME@byui.edu

Your BYU-Idaho username may be different from your email address. You do not need to create a new ChatGPT account.

When prompted, select Log in with CES to continue.

Seeing a code in your email instead? Return to the login screen and make sure you entered your BYU-Idaho username, not your email address.
Step 2
Select the CES ChatGPT Workspace
After signing in, confirm that you are using the CES ChatGPT workspace.

Using this workspace ensures that CES organizational protections, settings, and available capabilities apply to your ChatGPT use.
Step 3
Start Using ChatGPT Edu
Once you are in the CES ChatGPT workspace, you can begin using the tools available to you.

Standard access does not require a separate license request or activation email.
Step 4
Need Additional Access?
Some ChatGPT capabilities are available based on academic or business needs.

If your work requires capabilities beyond standard access, contact your Portfolio Manager to determine whether additional access is appropriate.
