It is April 1940 and Norway has been invaded by Germany. The royal family has fled into the interior of the country and the delicate peace negotiations come down to a fateful decision by King Haakon VI. This film was Norway's submission for Best Foreign Film in 2016.

The film mixes stories from Potter's life with the characters and stories of her children's books, including the well-known Peter Rabbit. Beatrix had given herself up to spinsterhood but her growing fame as an author changes all aspects of her life.
