...but that was about the extent of my computer knowledge. I took my first programming class, and it was probably one of the most difficult things that I had ever done. I had NEVER written a single line of code, and all the 'most basic' programming principles, that most of my peers already understood, really challenged my understanding. I became discouraged. I asked myself, 'Was I supposed to know some programming skills before I enrolled in this class? Should I change my major?' But through encouragement from professors and my wife, I continued on. After several semesters at BYU-Idaho, I had learned so much about programming. I now have a programming job and have been offered a programming internship at a respected company.

"I left BYU-I in 2007 for Seattle to join the Boeing Information Technology (IT) rotation program...
I spent two years working in various organizations within IT. In each rotation I took on a different job function - functional analysis, project management, enterprise architecture, and configuration managment. Upon completion of the program, I took a full-time position as the program administrator for the rotations program. After filling that role for a short time, I applied for and received a promotion to a first-line manager position.
The key things that I learned were how to collaborate and work with others, how to be adaptable and find solutions to business problems, and probably most importantly how to analyze a problem, identify a solution, and document requirements so others can understand them and perform their jobs. I know that using these skills and being willing to take on additional work have helped me to succeed."
