FAQs about how and when BYU-Idaho will send text messages to students, how to change your phone number, and more.
To receive texts from the university, update your contact information and preferences on your student.byui.edu profile (view tutorial). If your number is updated and accurate, you’ll be receiving texts when necessary.
Text messages can only be sent to U.S., Canadian, and Caribbean cell phone numbers. 

For international students, other options for communicating with the university are as follows:

Simply go to your my.byui.edu profile to update your new number. For additional help, please refer to this quick tutorial on how to do so.

We understand you don’t want to be bombarded with a flurry of messages. The university will send critical messages such as: emergency updates, registration, academic and financial aid updates, program applicability, and other notifications.

We apologize you’re not receiving any texts. Please follow this simple tutorial to ensure your contact information is accurate. If you’re still not receiving text messages, please contact the BYUI-Support Center.

While you may receive some texts regarding financial aid and program applicability deadlines, our goal is to avoid sending you unnecessary texts during your off-track.

If you’re graduated and/or would simply like to stop receiving text messages from the university, you are able to opt-out. Simply go to your portal to adjust your preferences, or text STOP to the 208 number associated with the university. If you neglect to do this, you’ll continue to receive text messages from the university.
