Biography
Sister Michelle Amos worked for 30 years for NASA at the Kennedy Space Center as an electrical design engineer, project manager and systems engineer. She was privileged to work on several flagship NASA programs. She was a systems engineer for the Mars 2020 Rover “Perseverance” which landed on Mars, February 18, 2021, working across 11 system domains to help engineers certify the rover ready for flight. Her last assignment was systems engineer for Deep Space Logistics which will provide supplies for astronauts to live and work on the Moon as part of NASA’s new Artemis Program.
After working for NASA, Sister Amos and her husband, Elder John Amos were called to serve as mission leaders in the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission from July 2020 to July 2023. Sister Amos has held many callings in the Church. Her favorite callings have involved working with the youth as Young Women President, Youth Sunday School Teacher, and Stake Young Women Secretary.
She is the youngest of 10 children and was raised on a farm in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She and John have been married for 34 years. They live in Oviedo, Florida and have three children and five grandchildren.
