Meet the Firms is Coming September 28

REXBURG — Each year, accounting firms and graduate programs converge on Brigham Young University-Idaho for what is known as Meet the Firms, where students in the Accounting Department at Brigham Young University-Idaho will soon gather to see what opportunities lay ahead for them. This year, those students will have the opportunity to meet with potential employers on September 28.

Having started in 2001 and in it’s 22nd year, the event has grown to be well-known across the country, according to Kevin Kimball, the Chair of the Accounting Department.

“This year we’ll have 72 different recruiters,” he said. “We are always working on this, and it’s effectively a year-round process.”

Even since last year, the event has grown by about 20 firms or graduate programs. In fact, this event has become so popular that the University has had to turn away firms.

“I think the best memory I have is going around and talking to these recruiters, and without exception, they all say, ‘We love coming to BYU-Idaho. You have great students. You have a great program, and we’d love to get as many students as we can get,’” he said.

For those who are interested in coming to the event, there are some important things to remember.

“The students definitely need to come professionally dressed,” Kimball said. “To really send the message that […] this is a program that really values professionalism and that they’re going to be high performing employees.”

Accounting students who are interested in attending must pre-register using the Handshake app. Professional dress is required. Students should also bring their resumé with them.

Meet the Firms will be from 7 to 9 pm on the I-Center courts. To find out more, visit www.byui.edu/accounting.
