Cancer is an illness that doesn’t discriminate who it touches and for many people, it’s a disease that is extremely expensive. Spencer Hinton, a BYU-Idaho piano performance major, felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to raise funds for a friend’s family member who is suffering from cancer.

Hinton says the concert will include several musical genres.

“There will be some country, there will be some pop, and there will be religious music as well because that's what I excel at most. I love making arrangements of and my own renditions of these pieces and of these songs,” Hinton said.

Hinton will play “Scherzo #2” by Chopin, “Humble and Kind” by Tim MaGraw, “It is Well with My Soul” and “Prayer of the Children” by Kurt Bestor, among other songs. The ticket sales go to the direct treatment of the individual. Several people will be singing including Jeremy Takadama and Carson Matthews.

“This concert was put together to uplift and inspire. The time that they will be spending there is not just going to be time where they listen to some college kids sing. This time was designed from as long as I've been able to, to inspire them also to achieve their goals,” Hinton said.

The event happens on Friday at Taylorview Middle School in Idaho Falls at 6:30 p.m. and Madison Junior High School on March 27 at 7:00 p.m. There will be tickets available at the door.
