The City of Rigby is celebrating its citizens, farmers and more with a recognition banquet on March 30 at the Jefferson Fairgrounds Building. The theme of the banquet is Fresh from the Farm, remembering the value that the farmers have brought to Rigby and its surrounding area.
“We have the businesses around Rigby donate an item to them for the banquet. And during the banquet, we have a live auction that we raise money and that money goes back into our community,’ said Teresa Anderson, the president of the Chamber of Commerce in Rigby.
Anderson says many of the things up for auction come from the businesses in Rigby, including grills, fishing trips and even helicopter rides. These funds generated from the live and silent auctions go to help the city, including the Christmas lights and the Welcome to Rigby signs on the exits of US Highway 20.
“We have a lot of families that participate in that, some of the people that are getting awards. So, if they know someone that's going to get an award, they might want to come, or a lot of the businesses come and bring their families,” Anderson said.
The banquet begins at 6:30 p.m. and you can buy tickets at the Flying S Title and Escrow and the Jefferson Star.
