July Fourth marks Fizz Rizz’s one year anniversary of serving mocktails and nightlife to the Rexburg community.
BYU-Idaho alumnus Joseph Aragon and his friend Daniel Alworth opened the mocktail bar last year, in hopes to bring affordable and safe dining and free fun to college students and the rest of the city.
“I always liked the atmosphere of a bar but never liked a lot of the other things associated with a bar,” Aragon said. "I wanted a safe place that kids could go, college kids, students and even high schoolers and family members can go to that’s open late but doesn’t put them in a position that compromises their integrity, their values and they can drive home safe at night.”
Aragon said customers frequently ask about the bar’s blocked off basement. He said the downstairs venue is almost done and is going through some final inspections.
“With the basement, we’re going to be doing weekly dance nights, parties and stand-up comedy shows,” Aragon said. “Live bands here are super excited to have an actual, fun venue that has as many amenities as ours. We’ve actually got a lot of help with building the stage this last week with a local band here called the Stone Popes.”
Though details have not been announced, Aragon said for the bar’s anniversary they have plans for promotions and activities to celebrate. To stay up to date Aragon said it is best to follow their social media pages on Instagram and Facebook.
