The city of Rexburg is hosting a competition for small businesses on March 13 at the Rexburg City Hall from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. The event is to help grow small businesses in Rexburg and help develop them in the near future.
“Anyone's welcome to apply. There's no other requirements other than that zero to three years in operation and less than $500,000 in revenue. So even if you haven't started a business and you just have an idea for a business, you can write up a business plan for that, submit that business plan and you might get a chance to compete for all that money,” said Aaron Denney, one of the organizers of the event.
According to Mr. Denney, the money is a cash prize that is given out to the winners of the contest. The total amount of money being given out is $10,000 with first place having $5,000, second place as $3,000 and $2,000 for third place. This money is to help jumpstart the small business here.
“This is the first year that we've held it since COVID. A lot of the entrepreneurial stuff shifted a little bit during COVID. And so we're bringing back this business competition that we've done for several years. So there's a chance for a lot of people that probably never even heard about this event that we used to do in the past. They get to participate this time,” Denney shared.
