Reed’s Dairy in Idaho Falls just completed a new production facility, less than two years after a fire destroyed its previous facility. That fire, in January of 2024, caused the dairy to lose its production capacity, making them outsource their work. Now, they are reopening their facility with a ribbon cutting next week.

“Our margins have been pretty small because we've had a dairy over in Moses Lake, Washington, bottle our milk for us,” said Alan Reed, the president of the company. “We've been getting ice cream mix from as far away as Chicago and down in Utah, and then we've been freezing that here in a spot we set up, and we've been having cheese made other places.”

Reed says the Department of Agriculture has inspected the equipment, and the dairy is testing it themselves with a little bit of product they’ll use by the end of this week. This will enable them to have the ability to process their milk, cheese, ice cream, egg-nog and more.

"We're going to be giving tours through the facility so people can see what we've built,” he said. “I think they'll be really impressed with what we put together, and the ribbon cutting is going to be a community ribbon cutting.”

The location for the event is their main location in Idaho Falls at 2660 West Broadway. The event is on Friday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. To find out more about the event or to browse their product line, click here or check out the company’s Facebook page.
