The Marshall Public Library has issued a reading challenge to its patrons in Pocatello called the 50/50 Book Quest.
There are different criteria for different ages. For example, adults are challenged to read 50 books in 50 weeks in 50 different categories. For children, they are challenged to read a minimum of 30 books in a year.
“So, it's still trying to get them to read longer books and they still, they still have up to 50 categories so they can go ahead and read all 50 books, but the minimum they have to do is 30 books,” said Jackie Wood, a librarian at the Marshall Public Library.
Teens can have as much fun as adults for this challenge. The young adult librarian has centered the teen challenge around Harry Potter and Hogwarts.
So, each house has 12 or 13 categories that are based around the characteristics for the houses of the Hogwarts and Harry Potter world,” Wood said.
According to the rules, anyone can participate in the Book Quest but if you want the prize, you need a current library card.
