Madison Library District in Rexburg will celebrate National Library Week this week. It’s a week focused on the libraries and the people who run them as they work to change the community for the better.

Leading up to this special week there was a contest to draw comics. The entries are now displayed at the library in the main display case.

“They're really fun, very creative, different kinds of mediums were used, but you know, all in comic strip form, but you know, there was some digital and written or hand,” said Mindy Heiner, the outreach librarian for the district.

Starting on Monday, the library will have free cookies to celebrate the people and the community that has supported the library since the beginning. There will also be a BlockFest in collaboration with Eastern Idaho Public Health on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The activity is geared toward children 8 months old to 8 years old.

“We want you to drop in any time between those hours to explore math, science and literacy skills. And as you stack, build, create and topple your creations, you're going to learn all of that and just have a hands-on experience with that. It should be pretty fun. just socks are required,” Heiner said.
